A few days before each lesson, I like to ask the student/their parent would exactly they would like to cover. This is so I can plan accordingly and tailor my lessons to meet the students personal learning outcomes for each lesson. This way, the student takes ownership of their own learning. As a result, The session will pretty much be student driven. I am happy to teach concepts or if they need help with applying knowledge, going through practice questions is beneficial. In addition, I like to develop a good rapport with the students and I feel that having been in the same boat as them, this comes quite naturally to me. I like to have a friendly, relaxed and interactive teaching environment which makes each lesson feel a little less like a chore! In terms of experience, I have tutored Spanish before to a year 9 student which made his transition to GCSE smoother. I have also taught 11+ mathematics.
