Moving away from the traditional methods of teaching law, my lessons are focused on interactive practice. The lessons are going to be a step towards studying law at university and the purpose of the lessons is not to simply help to pass exams but actually analyse laws and arguments around laws and ensure that the pupil understands the social, political and economic aspects behind the law. Through weekly reading and A Level past paper analysis a strong foundation will be built upon which pupils can develop further skills, these skills such as essay writing and structural argumentation will be massively helpful for the pupils. The skills I would like to teach would not only help pupils excel in A Level Law but also ensure that it is applicable for other humanities subjects as well such as politics, sociology, literature and history; all of which require the transferable skills delivered by law. Overall, my aim is to shape a pupil into an academically well rounded individual who can address the real world issues beyond the exam hall, and whilst academic skills do help there is a need to develop a passion for law beyond the bounds of academia, and it should be done in a way to ensure that students wants to pursue law in higher education as a matter of choice and even go into the legal profession to serve the cause of justice. Along the way I am more than happy to change my way to tailor my teaching according to, the needs of my pupil if that helps them achieve their goals.
