I've had multiple tutors in the past and I try to improve on areas I felt their styles lacked, while keeping everything I found helpful myself. Engagement is key, and I want to find that engagement with all of my students.
I've been tutoring for about a year, mostly with people whose parents I knew, but that doesn't mean the sessions were informal. I have experience that is desirable when looking for a tutor, and I hope you recognise that in me.
My lessons are always focused around your needs. The first session will generally centre around determining the areas of content that need covering the most, and we'll also work together to find out if you learn better in a more question filled or discussion focused environment.
To this end, our first session is free. I'll endeavour to create an overarching plan for the lessons afterwards during our first, and we can discuss on a case by case basis how many sessions you'd like, and how often you'd like them. Most students prefer weekly sessions while others feel better with more frequent ones; either is perfectly fine.
I generally try to cover a few concepts that tie together in each lesson, with a few exceptions where one topic is very heavy on content. This way, you can get a greater appreciation for how certain ideas are linked to each other. This of course isn't a rule, and will change depending on how much you feel comfortable covering in one session.
