Lessons will consist of a routine which consists of around 3-4 lessons dedicated to one topic in biology. As you may know, in edexcel biology there are 9 topics to study including; PAPER 1: key concepts, cells and control, genetics, natural selection and genetic modification, health and disease,
PAPER 2: key concepts, Plants and their functions, Homeostasis, Animal coordination, and control, exchange and transport in animals, ecosystems and material cycles. So as you can see topic 1 is in both papers, and topics 1-4 are in paper 1 and topics 6-9 are in paper 2. So for instance, if we were studying topic 7 (homeostasis and control), the first two lessons would be simply me explaining and teaching the concepts and ensuring my student understands these concepts and we will go through a few past exam questions after the learning too. In lesson 3, we will recap and my student will answer some exam past paper questions independently, where we will then go through the markscheme together and understand the mind of the examiner and see the specific answers needed in the exam to gain full marks. In lesson 4, we will then go through any concepts my student didn’t quiet understand and I will just run through it again. This will routine will be repeated for all 9 topics. I will use power points which will focus on all key elements in the topic and everything the specification requires. The student will not be required to do homework however they are required to revise consistently to maintain their learning.
