Hi, I’m Yuka, a native Japanese speaker and Psychology student at Cardiff University. I don’t just teach Japanese; I design lessons around how you personally learn best.
With over 3 years of teaching experience, including teaching English to students in Japan, I’ve learned that every learner is different. Some people need structure and grammar rules. Others learn best through conversation and real-life expressions. I adapt to you, not the other way around.
My lessons can include:
- Speaking and natural conversation practice
- Grammar explained in a way that actually makes sense
- Reading and writing (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji) from scratch
- Pronunciation coaching
- Japanese culture, slang, and everyday expressions
Whether you’re preparing for a trip to Japan, studying for an exam, interested in anime/manga, or simply curious about the language, I’ll build a lesson plan around your specific goal.
Lessons are available online or face-to-face in Cardiff. First lesson is free, so there’s no pressure, just come and see if we’re a good fit.

Yuka is a fantastic tutor - she's very kind patient and relaxed in her lessons style - she's always happy to answer any questions and works at a pace that works well for you! I have made great progress with Yuka and had a good few laughs along the way! I could honestly not recommend a tutor any more highly to anyone who wishes to learn Japanese
