I am more used to discussion based, more casual lessons but can also provide directed, PowerPoint based lessons. I hope for my lessons to be interactive, for people to feel engaged and be directing their own learning to some degree. I also hope to inspire your interest in Biology to be researching the topic on your own rather than feeding information into you. My lessons are likely to be more extracurricular and perhaps more suited to students at a higher level as a result, but I will also spend substantial portions of time clarifying any confusion you may have about materials presented in your school lessons or lectures, if you bring them up. I would also hope to include messages on the basics of the scientific method, procedures in science and presentation and writing skills to you, which I hope would prove helpful in your later studies and careers. I have had experience in formal presentation at the University of Cambridge studying Biological Natural Sciences, where presentations have focussed on project results, but also included informal presentation opportunities to the younger generation, such as at the Crash Bang and Squelch event. As a student representative, I have thought carefully on the presentation styles of each of my lecturers at Cambridge, and summarized what I believe is the most effective presentation style for my educational experience, which I then hope to apply to this teaching role to make your educational experience more pleasant. Finally, I wish to stress at here that I deeply believe that all teachers are fallible, and encourage you to think critically about each idea I present to you - of course I would never intentionally mislead you, but I, like all people, will make mistakes. Being able to detect and point out my mistakes to me would be the best proof of your academic excellence, and be a massive help to me as well.
