I am friendly, approachable and creative, and my lessons are designed to be both educational and supportive of a child’s personal development.
My online lessons are interactive, encouraging and student-centred. I use discussion, real-life examples, creative activities, reflection questions, storytelling, role play and practical exercises to help students understand emotional intelligence in a way that feels relevant to their everyday life.
A typical lesson may include a short check-in, a clear theme for the session, an engaging activity, open conversation, reflection and a simple takeaway task. I encourage students to actively participate, share their thoughts, ask questions and build confidence in expressing themselves.
My aim is to create a safe and positive space where students feel seen, heard and understood. Through my lessons, I support children to develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, confidence, communication skills, empathy, resilience, self-belief and healthy relationships.
With over 35 years’ experience supporting children, families and women, I understand the importance of adapting my approach to each child’s needs. I make lessons creative, enjoyable and meaningful so students learn without feeling pressured.
I am also happy to work online during evenings and weekends, offering flexibility for students and families.
I believe every child learns differently, which is why I tailor each lesson to the individual, taking into account their age, personality, confidence levels and learning style. I create a calm, encouraging and non-judgemental environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves, asking questions and sharing their thoughts and feelings. Building trust and rapport is at the heart of my teaching, as I know children learn best when they feel safe, valued and understood.
My lessons are structured yet flexible. I begin with a gentle check-in to understand how the student is feeling before introducing the focus of the session. I use a variety of teaching approaches, including storytelling, games, scenario-based discussions, visual resources, journalling, mindfulness, breathing exercises, quizzes and creative activities to keep students engaged and make learning enjoyable. These activities encourage students to think critically, reflect on their own experiences and apply what they have learnt to real-life situations.
Throughout each session, I encourage participation, collaboration and open conversation rather than simply delivering information. Students are given opportunities to practise skills such as active listening, problem-solving, empathy, emotional regulation and effective communication through role play and practical exercises. I also celebrate progress, however small, helping children to recognise their strengths and build confidence in their own abilities.
My goal is for every student to leave each lesson with greater self-awareness, practical strategies they can use in everyday life and the confidence to navigate challenges, build positive relationships and make thoughtful decisions. I am passionate about helping young people develop the emotional intelligence that will support not only their education but also their future wellbeing, relationships and personal success.
I am passionate about helping children develop skills that will benefit them long beyond the classroom. I encourage students to reflect on their own thoughts, emotions and behaviours, empowering them to become more self-aware, resilient and confident in everyday situations.
My aim is for every lesson to be engaging, meaningful and inspiring, enabling students to leave with practical strategies they can apply at home, in school and within their relationships. I believe emotional intelligence is a lifelong skill that supports academic achievement, positive mental wellbeing and healthy relationships.
By nurturing curiosity, confidence and emotional awareness, I strive to help every child recognise their potential, believe in themselves and feel equipped to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, empathy and optimism.
