English as a subject is incredibly essay dense and thus, it is imperative that students can construct balanced arguments whilst maintaining an equilibrium of coherence and cogency within their writing. Ensure that PEE and PEELE is applied where necessary to provide full evaluation of arguments. I constantly encourage students to dismantle their own arguments.

Students will analyse various sources of literature and be able to create their own opinions and debates. Students will practise their own formal writing, in addition to their creative writing using the imagination, wide vocabulary and literary terminology.

In Literature I will encompass upon harnessing these skills: Critical reading - Evaluation of a writer’s choice of vocabulary, grammatical and structural features - Comparing texts

Students will learn to write effectively about literature for a range of purposes such as: To describe, explain, summarise, argue, analyse and evaluate; discussing and maintaining a point of view; selecting and emphasising key points; using relevant quotation and using detailed textual references.

I Introduce students to all (relevant) literary techniques - and subsequently demonstrate how to identify these in passages and provide an apt explanation of its purpose.

This will be enhanced by the use of metacognitive and self-regulatory strategies - I explain my thought process to the student when providing answers to various tasks. I then simultaneously ensure that the student can replicate the same processes. All of my teachings will be supplemented with visual aids and I will ensure that students can not only regurgitate information learned but demonstrate an inherent understanding of it.
