Before the lesson begins, I will introduce students to the topic that they will be covering in that course. This will be supplemented by written notes which I will produce in advance, or which I will write during that session. Once I explain this topic, we will work through a series of example questions to ensure that the student understands how it works and apply it effectively. These questions, that were designed deliberately by me, can be found separately on a google docs. Moving forwards, once the student is confident with this topic, we will progress to a series of exam questions. The purpose of this is so that students familiarise themselves with the layout of these questions. As they do more PPQs, students will begin to know how examiner's award marks and what is required to achieve full marks in accordance to the marking scheme. I want to teach students the value and importance of 'appreciating' a problem. Maths is not just simply following rules, it is about developing a positive mindset when faced with challenging questions. Learning how to approach these problems calmly and methodically is essential to becoming a successful Mathematician. Understanding the topic first and knowing why it works that way is an important principle that students must embrace in their A level studies. I know that with my ongoing support, any student can succeed and accomplish their goals, and pursue whatever path they may wish to choose in the future.
