Vivien Skripek

I have a BSc Hons degree in Zoology and an MSc with Distinction in Neuroscience and Translational Medicine. I have been a GCSE and A-level Biology tutor for over five years. I have extensive experience in exam preparation and technique, skills that help students apply their knowledge to questions, and I create detailed, understandable, and comprehensive lesson materials and presentations. I believe in bringing out the best potential in students and supporting each student with personalised short-term lesson plans and long-term study plans, as every student is different. I have helped several students achieve their target grades and secure offers from some of the most renowned universities in London, where they now study subjects such as medicine, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, biological sciences, and international relations. An important passion of mine is educating the next generation of scientists, researchers, or simply biology-loving young people. I have experience tutoring OCR, AQA, Edexcel B, and Edexcel A SNAB exam boards.

I structure my lessons to first give the student the 'Big Picture' of the topic we are covering, ensuring the student knows what we are talking about and can build on the basic knowledge of the topic. Then I introduce the student to the smaller details that are the building blocks of the big picture and use illustrations to explain how biological processes in the human body work, or how certain organs work, for example. I apply this same method when teaching about ecosystems, inheritance, the animal kingdom, plants and other parts of biology.
