I find out why my students want to learn English and what their interests are. We then move forward with the basic numbers and nouns then adjectives. I used to use a lot of my art and get my students to draw as well but it became quite consuming.
I do like them to bring a colour pictorial book or photos they are interested in and we go over very basic stories from those photos.

I do like them to bring a colour pictorial book or photos they are interested in and we go over very basic stories from those photos.
Unlike French, Italian and Spanish, English is full of contradictions and doesn't conform to the patterns of the romantic languages so I try to avoid these at the beginning of the lessons.
