My name is Verity and I’m a Cambridge-educated tutor of French, English Literature and English as a Foreign Language. Since 2012, I’ve worked in a variety of teaching and educational roles, including working as a private French and English tutor, TEFL Camp Coordinator, Playworker in an afterschool club, TEFL teacher and Drama tutor and assistant tutor. As such, I’ve got a wealth of experience working with groups of up to 20 students or on a 1:1 basis.
In terms of my lessons, I tailor them to your needs and wants. Whether you’re looking to pick up a new language for pleasure, want to improve your GCSE, ‘A’ level or university grades for GCSE, need help improving your English skills as a non-native or want to brush up on your conversational French, I can help. Plus, I have experience teaching the Edexcel and AQA curriculums, as well as designing my own lesson plans for non-exam-based sessions.
In my French lessons, I like to mix up the core skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking with vocabulary and grammar activities to improve your confidence while building a great foundation in the language. I offer both online and in-person lessons (either at my home or yours) and enjoy making my lessons as interactive as possible, using a variety of pre-made resources, resources I’ve created myself and activities based on real-world content such as films, books, podcasts and TV shows.
