Hi, I’m Utkarsh! ??
Science shouldn’t feel like memorising a phone book. My job is to make it click, and maybe even make it fun.
I’ve just finished my MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering with Biotechnology at Imperial College London, after a First Class BSc in Biotechnology, Chemistry and Zoology. I’ve made mRNA in the lab, trained yeast to produce jet fuel, and built a sensor that spots heavy metals in water. So yes, I’ll have an answer when you ask “when will I ever use this?”
I teach biology, chemistry, biotech and intro engineering, from GCSE and A-level to IB and first-year uni.
How I teach:
I explain things the way I’d want them explained if I knew nothing. Real-life examples first, then we sketch it out step by step. No rushing. You get time to think.
Your first lesson:
We’ll chat about what you find tricky, what your exam board wants and the grade you’re aiming for. Then we make a plan that fits you..
The twist:
I’ll often hand you the pen and ask you to teach it back to me like I’m clueless. It’s oddly fun, it clears up hidden doubts, and it’s the best way to make things stick for exams.
After each lesson, you’ll get a quick summary and a few practice questions so nothing slips away.
What I’m like:
Relaxed, positive and always smiling. No question is too silly. I represented 120 students at Imperial, and people keep coming back because I’m easy to talk to.
Tell me where you’re stuck, and let’s sort it out together. ??
