I have provided support and education to children in a wide range of settings, across different cultures, with vastly varying needs and backgrounds, with the single goals of enabling them to meet their aspirations.
I have years of experience, across a number of primary schools, working with students from foundation phase through to year 6, my day-to-day responsibilities have included creating lesson plans, preparing class materials, organizing hands-on activities, grading assignments, writing IEPs, documenting student progress, and maintaining student records.
I believe in devising a creative and enjoyable curriculum while allowing the children’s own creativity to flourish in class and take a lead in their learning. Through this and using ‘Assessment for Learning’, I am able create a balanced environment where children feel autonomous and valued as part of their classroom community. Learning is the long-term retention of knowledge, understanding and skill, as well as the ability to transfer these to different social and educational/professional contexts. As such, I value the use of assessment tools to support progression and overall development of the student.
