My teaching style is very relaxed, I feel that people learn best when they are engaged and having fun. Usually we will start by talking about what you do know, and what you want to know or what you need to know. Then we will move onto the actual teaching mixed in with some questioning, making sure you understand and clarification. Questions are always welcome and are in fact encouraged. Even if you think the question is “stupid”, it’s better to ask and clarify than stay in the dark forever. There is usually a lot of back and forth, I know from personal experience that sitting in a lecture is a lot less productive than enjoying your time and figuring out things with someone else.
I have a variety of experience teaching people from all over of different backgrounds and experiences, whether it be an American taking chemistry in college, or an English secondary school student who wants to learn the area of a circle. I also have experience teaching a variety of subjects including Chemistry, Maths, Physics, Computer Science, and languages.
I use a variety of sources for my teaching but mainly they will be the curriculum which the student is learning from, combined with personal experience and knowledge. I will administer tests in which I create and mark based on the individual student and what I think they need to work on. This also helps develop the skills of learning, which allows students to figure out the knowledge for themselves and not have to rely on memorisation.
