About me

My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to the individual student, with a strong focus on building confidence as well as exam performance. Each session is planned around the student’s current school topics, homework, or areas they find most challenging, so time is always used efficiently and purposefully.

Lessons usually begin with a short discussion or starter question to check prior knowledge and identify any gaps or misconceptions. I then explain key concepts step by step, breaking them down into manageable parts and using clear worked examples to demonstrate methods and reasoning. I place particular emphasis on how and why answers gain marks, regularly referring to GCSE mark schemes so students become familiar with exam language and expectations.

A significant part of each lesson is spent on guided practice. Students work through exam-style questions with my support, allowing me to give immediate feedback, address misunderstandings, and reinforce correct techniques. I encourage students to ask questions throughout and aim to create a calm, non-judgemental environment where they feel comfortable saying when something does not make sense. Lessons are paced to suit the student, ensuring understanding is secure before moving on.

All lessons are delivered online via video call, using screen sharing and worked examples to replicate the feel of in-person tutoring while offering flexibility and convenience. I am happy to adapt lessons to suit different exam boards and levels, including both Foundation and Higher tier.

I am a Chemistry undergraduate at the University of Sussex and have two years’ experience working as a science technician in secondary schools and colleges. This role has given me valuable insight into the GCSE science curriculum, practical work, and the common difficulties students face in Chemistry and Biology. I hold A levels in Chemistry and Biology and use this subject knowledge to support students with clear explanations and effective revision strategies.

Overall, my aim is to make GCSE Chemistry feel more manageable and less stressful by helping students develop a strong understanding of key concepts and the confidence to apply them independently in exams. I am also happy to provide GCSE Biology support where required.
