I have found that "learning by doing" (Experiential learning) is the best approach to teaching Computer Science. Whether this be through physical demonstrations, or through writing code and testing its functionality, it is the best way to solidify the knowledge.
For teaching coding languages, I work in stages of difficulty. This method allows for building blocks to be established as the learning progresses to be sure the previous block is secure before we continue to the next one. When programming, it is fundamental that the basics are secured before moving on to different concepts.
In one-to-one lessons, it allows for a personalised experience of learning as compared to schools. The lessons can be tailored to the speed of your work, as compared to the speed of the rest of your course works. Whether you are a super fast learner, or someone who requires a little more support in certain areas, lessons can be tailored to suit what you require.
