My lessons will be student led. Focussing most on what the student needs, whether to improve their studies or improve on whatever aspect of language they would like. For beginners, it will be very GCSE like, with lots of vocabulary and beginner grammar. For those who are more proficient in the language, there will be a heavier focus on grammar. I started French and Spanish in secondary school and have loved the 2 languages ever since. I carried on through A-Levels, where I achieved an A in each and now I am studying French at the University of Manchester, and keeping up with Spanish with native friends. Languages are an extremely important but undervalued aspect in British society. Not everyone speaks English! To properly immerse oneself in a culture, whether for travel, work or study, it is essential that you are proficient in the language. Not only is it very important, but speaking from experience, being able to speak more than 1 language is the most rewarding experience that never ceases to amaze others and myself. When you are able to communicate in more than one language, you open up another world of opportunity and possibilities with the opportunities of making friends from all over the world, working in many different countries and simply being able to watch a film in your additional language. There are so many job opportunities for linguists, it is hard to see for students, but not all linguists become teachers, there are jobs in Law, Diplomacy, politics and travel that are all very exciting.
