My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to the individual. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I aim to make lessons relaxed and interactive rather than simply talking through information. I encourage students to ask questions, discuss ideas and work through examples with me so that they can develop their understanding and confidence.
I currently offer mentoring in Emotional Intelligence and Health & Social Care. For Emotional Intelligence, lessons can explore areas such as understanding emotions, self-awareness, communication, empathy, managing relationships and recognising how emotions can influence our behaviour. I aim to make these topics practical by relating them to everyday situations, helping students think about how the concepts apply to themselves and others.
For Health & Social Care, I can support students with understanding key concepts, reviewing topics, preparing for assessments and developing their written answers. Having completed both a Level 2 Extended Diploma and Level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, achieving A* grades in both, I have a strong academic foundation in the subject.
Although I am new to tutoring and do not have formal tutoring experience, I have developed relevant experience through education, employment and volunteering. During my Health & Social Care studies, I completed a placement at a nursing home where I engaged with residents, supported their wellbeing and helped the activity coordinator plan activities. This gave me practical experience of applying Health & Social Care knowledge in a real-world setting.
I am currently studying Sociology at Sheffield Hallam University, which has further developed my research, communication, critical thinking and academic writing skills.
My professional experience has also involved supporting people, communicating information clearly and developing training resources. For example, while volunteering with Healthwatch Sheffield, I helped develop a training plan and created an induction presentation and resources for future volunteers.
My aim is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing at their own pace. I want students to leave each session not only knowing more, but feeling more confident in their ability to learn and apply what they have learned.
