Thomas Hayes

I am a Masters graduate, having studied the field of Politics and International Relations for 5 Years. I am also an Army Reservist, and former fitness society committee, treasurer and president, with a plethora of additional guidance to give to my students about their current or future experiences at university. At this stage within my academic career I have completed 3 full theseis starting with an EPQ within my A levels, followed by a undergraduate and then Masters dissertation. I aim to deliver high quality, impactful lessons which leave my students with the ability to critically analyse the content of both their course content and the exam or essay questions that they are engaging with. My experience within the Armed forces gives me a no nonsense style and I expect my students to be proactive within our working relationship, and to engage with me to allow to target the content area in which they are truly struggling with. Within my guidance for my students assessments I have a high emphasis upon teaching my students how to establish a clear structure, and further enabling them to select the right definitions/parameters to allow them to progress critically through their work. After this, the student can progress on to developing their argument to suit the needs of the parameters that they have established. This is my chosen method within assessment preparation as good reasoning and understanding developed through a strong introduction means a student can still acquire marks, despite a weaker argument across the essay.
