I believe I would be an excellent tutor because I’ve gained valuable experience helping others learn in both academic and real-life settings. For several years, I’ve regularly tutored my younger sister, who has always struggled with maths. This has taught me how to explain things clearly and patiently, especially when someone is feeling stuck or unsure of themselves. I’ve learned that it’s not just about knowing the answer it’s about helping the other person understand why it works and feel confident enough to try it themselves. Through helping her with homework, preparing for tests, and going over tricky topics, I’ve developed the ability to break down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps.
In addition to tutoring at home, I’ve also spent over two years coaching a children’s disability football team. That experience has helped shape how I work with others, especially when it comes to being patient, encouraging, and adaptable. Every child is different, and I’ve learned how to adjust my approach depending on individual needs whether that means slowing down, giving more examples, or just being a consistent, supportive presence. Coaching has also helped me build strong communication skills and a calm, positive attitude, both of which are just as important when tutoring.
I’m predicted a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths, and I genuinely enjoy helping others understand the subject. I know what it’s like when maths feels overwhelming, and I’m confident I can help make it feel less stressful and maybe even enjoyable for my students. I’m reliable, understanding, and always ready to help.
