My lessons are structured, thoughtful, and focused on developing both creative ability and confidence. Each session begins by understanding the student’s level, goals, and any current coursework or projects, so the work is always relevant and purposeful. Sessions typically combine discussion, visual examples, practical exercises, and constructive critique, helping students understand not just what to do, but why certain creative decisions work.
I draw on extensive professional experience as a multidisciplinary designer and creative director, having worked across product, furniture, brand, and retail design. My career includes collaborations with well-known brands and organisations such as John Lewis, Habitat, Alessi, Technogym, and McLaren, as well as international retailers and manufacturers. This allows me to share real-world insight into creative processes, design thinking, and professional standards, which students often find motivating and reassuring.
In lessons, I help students develop ideas from early concepts through to clearer outcomes, supporting skills such as visual research, sketching, problem-solving, and presentation. I place strong emphasis on clarity of thinking, originality, and understanding creative briefs, rather than simply producing finished work. Feedback is clear, honest, and supportive, helping students recognise strengths and areas for improvement. My aim is to help students build confidence, improve academic performance where relevant, and develop a stronger understanding of Art and Design as both a subject and a creative discipline.
