My approach to tutoring is based on creating a calm, supportive and comfortable environment where students feel confident learning and making mistakes. I understand that learning a second language can sometimes feel challenging, so I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, needs, interests and goals.

I like to give students a clear understanding of grammar before asking them to use it in different situations. My lessons usually combine grammar, vocabulary and practical exercises, followed by focused practice of a particular skill such as speaking, listening, reading or writing. I provide my own materials and can set homework when useful to help students continue practising between lessons.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although this can be adapted depending on the student’s age and needs. I teach Spanish from complete beginners through to advanced learners, including GCSE and A-Level students, as well as adults learning Spanish for personal, professional or conversational purposes.

I am a qualified Spanish teacher with a PGCE in Spanish with French, a degree in English Studies and a Master’s degree in European Languages and Cultures. I have around three years of experience teaching Spanish in secondary education, including KS3, GCSE and A-Level, and have taught both AQA and Pearson at GCSE and AQA at A-Level. I have also been providing one-to-one language tuition since 2018 and have experience working with learners of different ages, levels and abilities, including students who need additional learning support.

I believe that learning a language is not just about memorising rules, but about understanding how and why the language works and gradually becoming confident enough to use it. I genuinely enjoy learning languages myself, and I hope to share that enthusiasm with my students and make learning Spanish an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
