I believe that the best way to learn mathematics is through practice, thus my lessons primarily utilize practice examples and questions to help better grasp mathematical concepts. I aim to understand how each one of my clients learns best to ensure I adopt an optimal style of explanation for each individual.
Every student learns differently and takes their own time to grasp a concept, which is something that a lot of tutors don’t take into account. As a patient individual myself, I strive to make my online tuition sessions a safe space for my clients. I want them to feel comfortable with me so that they are not afraid to voice any concerns they have with the content - thus ensuring a more compete understanding of the work.
When it comes to secondary school mathematics, I prefer to take a more hands off approach because it prepares the students better for their tests and exams. I like to think of my teaching style like teaching a child to ride a bike. Initially I hold them steady, but once they have got their balance and the confidence to ride, I let go.
Whilst my age may say I lack experience as a tutor, I would say my actual experience and skill level in the area of mathematics and mathematics tuition negate this statement. I have been tutoring mathematics all throughout my high school years and into university. As one of the top achievers in my high school for mathematics, I believe that my skill level shows my competence in the field of mathematics and thus my ability to tutor the subject.
