I am a second year medical student at Imperial College London. Having extensively studied STEM subjects myself, I feel confident at explaining difficult concepts, simplifying them and creating methods of making information recall easier. I achieved all grade 9s at GCSEs, and therefore, I understand how revision strategies and the way in which you apply the mark scheme can drastically improve your score.
Typically at the start of my lessons, I like to gauge the student's current level of understanding and what they would like to understand further. Subsequently, I will explain the content aligning with the syllabus, and I also utilise diagrams to make visualisation easier - I tend to use Google Whiteboard for this. We will focus on past paper questions and study the mark scheme answers to ensure that the student is using the correct key terms. Studying the examiner reports for exams is beneficial to see common pitfalls. We can also focus on revision strategies and how to improve recall of the content.
I have tutored STEM subjects from secondary school all the way up to A-level and I have also taught the 11+ for primary school children ; therefore, I feel confident at tailoring lessons according to the student's learning preferences.
