I have prior experience tutoring students in person.
I am now ready to use the skills I have gained to tutor students online.
I am a passionate teacher and like to keep a record of each students strengths and weaknesses. My method of teaching revolves around 3 main pillars: Understanding, Exam practice, and Recall.
The first step of my method of teaching involves first ensuring the student understands what is being taught. This is done through small exercises which involves the student using the knowledge they have gained and also verbal exercises involving them explaining topics back to me. This is the first pillar of my teaching process. The next step of my teaching process is to ensure the student is able to apply their knowledge when answering questions in an exam format. I would work through every type of exam question that would be asked and ensure that the student is competent with exam questions. Specific training is needed for answering exam questions due to the fact that a lot of questions are carefully worded to catch students out. This can lead to students understanding a certain topic in a classroom environment, but struggling to apply that in exam settings. This makes the second pillar. The last pillar of my method of teaching is Recall. This ensures that once students have gained knowledge in the classroom, they do not forget. Students will repeatedly be asked to recall knowledge during the class and they will carry out recalling exercises at the start of each lesson to help them retain knowledge from past lessons.
