Taichi Imanishi

My lessons are structured, engaging, and fully tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I typically teach online in a one-to-one format, ensuring that every session is focused, interactive, and adapted to your pace of learning.

Each lesson combines practical playing with clear explanations. We might start with warm-ups and technique (such as stick control, coordination, and timing), then move into grooves, fills, and repertoire. I often use play-along tracks, demonstrations, and step-by-step breakdowns so you can clearly understand how to improve. I also provide guidance on how to practise effectively between lessons, which is key to making real progress.

I have a PGCE and a PhD in Music, alongside many years of teaching experience with students of different ages and abilities, including beginners, hobbyists, and more advanced musicians. As a professional drummer, I have performed internationally at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Blue Note Tokyo, and I bring this real-world experience into my teaching.

My teaching style is supportive, patient, and encouraging. I aim to build your confidence while developing solid musical foundations, so you not only improve technically but also enjoy the process of making music.
