Tabitha Matekenya

I am a qualified teacher with 28 years of experience. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Diploma in Education. I have taught many students in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

I use the student centered approach so that lessons are highly interactive. I'll walk with you in your studies and you won't be alone.

Lessons are based on real life experiences so that they are relevant. We use the syllabus provided so that all subject matter is covered. Peer teaching, presentations and debates are some approaches that I use.

I encourage every student to be an active reader. This allows readers to explore vast terrains and different types of writing, which enhances their language development. An avid reader will end being an eloquent speaker by 'borrowing' expressions from the many texts read. One's vocabulary tends to increase when reading becomes a daily commitment.

Students should practice writing, listening, reading and speaking English consistently. These four important areas should be given adequate time during study. These skills should be developed on a daily basis so that a balance is maintained. These skills are equally important and lessons are structured in such a way that the student is given an apportunity to grow in all areas.

It is my hope that with my guidance, students will increase their English language skills. I am a patient, passionate and firm teacher who rejoices each time students excel in their work. I reward them, reinforce good behaviour and monitor progress effectively.
