I have been teaching and marking practical reports on an undergraduate second-year Psychology module since autumn 2022, and I have 18 months experience as an English teacher. I am very experienced with Psychology (BSc, MSc, PhD) and have completed every possible assessment a student may need to undertake during my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, which puts me in good stead to provide students with the skills they will need to achieve good marks at GCSE, A Level, and undergraduate levels. My lessons will be tailored individually to the needs and preferences of students - whether this is through presentations, discussion, quizzes, problem-solving exercises, etc. The format of lessons will generally be: 1) background and explanation of the topic (usually with a presentation); 2) discussion of relevant research (e.g., experimental methods); 3) critical analysis of results; 4) quick quiz; 5) reflection on learning; 6) discussion of next topic/preferred content. The dynamics of any classes I teach will be laid-back, encouraging, and interactive, with plenty of room to discuss and think critically about the content, and a good sprinkle of fun. Content of classes will depend on the level of the student, focusing on areas of the syllabus they may be struggling with or need extra help on. I will provide students with useful and relevant further reading to develop understanding as well as to provide evidence of wider knowledge of research for their assessments. I will also guide students (where needed) in how to conduct literature searches. If students are preparing for particular assessments, I will provide help with structure, writing style, and give study tips (for exams), and can help them to develop study schedules and time management skills.
