I have almost 20 years worth of experience teaching A level art & design students. I am calm supportive friendly and professional in my interactions with my students. My aim is to help you assess your strengths and maximise those, while also improving your skills and understanding in any weaker areas. We will tailor your learning to your own ideas, projects and aspirations. Along the way, I can give you ideas, suggestions you might never have thought of, practise exercises, and fill in any gaps in your knowledge. Lessons are a 2 way dialogue as I guide you to think creatively and critically about your own work and that of other artists.
my subject specialism is in textiles design, but I can advise you on a range of drawing and creative techniques, including pencil, charcoals, pastel, collage, printmaking, watercolour, inks, mixed media, embroidery, stencilling and many more. Please note though, I am not a fine art painter, and I am not best placed to advise you on painting in acrylics and oils to a high level.
During sessions we will look at the work of others, I may give a practical demonstration, or short practise exercises for you to practise. Following each session you will get notes of what we have discussed and next steps for you to act on, to help keep you on track. I am happy to offer the first session for free to ensure you are happy that I am a good fit for your needs.
