My teaching philosophy is designed to be organised, inclusive and student-centered, developed through my tenure as Teaching Assistant and a Graduate Assistant in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and my current Msc at the University of Derby. I have tutored, supervised Students and assisted more than 50 dissertations, which reinforced my skills in explaining the complex concepts in a clear manner and adjusting the explanations to various levels of abilities.
At school, my lessons have an understandable and interesting structure: a brief introductory task to evaluate the knowledge level before the lesson, brief explanation of the major concepts, practice with questions and group discussion, and a plenary to test their knowledge. I employ visuals, real-life examples, as well as interactive tasks to help the learning process be practical and relatable.
Teaching English is one of my special interests, and I loo at comprehension, vocabulary, of students. My lessons are interactive and well organized, starting with the clear learning goals, guided reading or discussion, and more organized writing practice with feedback. In addition to English, I can also help the science related subjects by relating theories like forces, energy transfer, and earth systems with real life application like GIS mapping and environmental processes. I have a Geography and geoscience background, which allows me to instruct basic physics subjects at primary level especially energy and light. Other values I hold include differentiated instruction, which allows me to create an inclusive classroom, instilling confidence, curiosity, and quantifiable academic growth and excellence.
