Break lesson into around 5 key points.
Explain the key theme of the lesson- 'Why are we learning this?' 'What skill or life benefit can the student expect to gain from it?'
Go through each of the 5 key points. After each point test the student's understanding.
After all 5 points are covered, check their learning on the whole concept or theme.

How learning is checked: spoken question and answer session as a standard seminar; occasional quick written test. Level of subsequent homework issued depends on the outcome of each lesson's test.
