The first thing we need to know is how interested the person is in the language, whether it is just a school subject, whether they are thinking of something more professional, whether they want to travel to countries where the language is spoken, etc. Knowing all these factors, we can create a teaching programme. If I have a student who is about to finish high school and wants to increase his level of Spanish, we must focus on his attitudes and skills, to orientate them to the way of teaching. If this student is good at cooking, I could create lessons based on the taste already acquired, combining it with the necessary lessons.
