Through my experience, I have found that the most effective way of teaching is through practice problems, so we will slowly go through problems that are catered to your area of study. I also like learning from textbooks, so we can look at and go through the concepts in the relevant textbook one by one until they make sense.

When I was a teaching assistant, the professor gave us a sheet of practice problems to go through every week with the students. This ensured that they solidified their knowledge of what was learned in class and ultimately resulted in higher grades for many of them.
