I am a qualified primary school teacher in Glasgow. I teach with a child centred approach with a focus on real life links to the wider world to tackle that ever lasting question of ‘but when will I ever use this in real life?’
I have completed my first year of teaching and have honed my skills in to provide a quality education to learners on an individual basis as well as whole class and groups. I have undertaken courses to further my own professional knowledge such as numeracy, outdoor learning, working with children with ASN among others. I have worked closely with children who have autism, ADD, dyspraxia and dyslexia and have the ability to adapt my approach to suit this.
I am organised, efficient, motivating and friendly. My lessons in the classroom involve movement, using technology, getting outdoors, and fun while learning new skills and how to apply them to a wide variety of aspects. I am also a nurturing person - I believe that all children have the ability to reach their full potential if they are shown and provided with the nurture they need. One size does not fit all and I am skilled in adapting my approach and my lessons/teaching to ensure that learners in my class/care receive the learning experiences they need to reach their goals.
I am up to date and have knowledge of with CfE and current planners used in primary schools and can link lessons to relevant criteria in line with this. I am knowledgable of content and criteria needed for benchmarks across the curriculum.
