I know 11 plus skills back to front and pinpoint what my students need to practise to ace their tests. I love to learn and love reminding my students of their learning achievements in my classes. When it comes to the overall exam prep. plan, I like to keep parents in the loop, and I value sharing targeted resources and exam papers for my students to use at home. In the last round I successfully helped students pass the Kent Test, the English element of Sutton Grammar School's 13 plus test, Sutton Grammar School's 11 plus test, and Oundle School's entrance exam.
One-on-one classes take place on Zoom, where I screen-share resources and make use of the online whiteboard. I encourage my students to write using the whiteboard too. I value a friendly environment in which my students and I often tackle problems together and then see if we can crack them independently. If a skill doesn’t come naturally, I like to introduce different ways of practising it until it feels like second nature.
To ensure my lessons hit my students’ goals, I factor in their performance on tasks done at home or in previous classes to ensure we work on exercises that build confidence and take them on the next step.
I tutor maths, English, science, and verbal and non-verbal reasoning, with a particular interest in improving creative writing skills.
I have experience in tutoring CAT4, CEM-, and GL-style papers, as well as a variety of independent entrance exam papers. I ensure my students have covered the whole curriculum before their tests and have completed a broad enough range of practice so that they feel prepared for the unexpected.
