Sophie Parslow

I am a qualified Spanish teacher, and have experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Spanish, currently teaching in a secondary school. I intend to make lessons friendly and a comfortable environment, where students feel confident speaking in Spanish. I am truly passionate about the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, and I aim to share that enthusiasm to make learning both inspiring and enjoyable.

Lessons are online via video call, using interactive whiteboards and shared Google Docs for live notes, warm-up practice, and targeted exercises. All resources are saved in your personal doc for post-lesson revision.

Previously, I lived and worked in Spain, so I like to tie together content learned with my own personal experiences, which helps students remember key vocab.

I also simplify tricky grammar and tenses with dynamic exercises, memorable shortcuts, and clear, logical explanations.

Every lesson balances all four core language skills—Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing—ensuring a well-rounded foundation. However, I always adapt the ratio to your individual goals, adjusting the pace and focus based on where you need the biggest boost in confidence.

For GCSE students - I have current knowledge and experience with the new GCSE exams, so I can offer guidance on new aspects, such as dictation.

For A-level students - I can tutor content for the book 'Requiem por un campesino español' and the films 'Volver' and 'Ochos apellidos vascos'. I can also offer guidance on the IRP aspect of the course, and on political topics such as the Catalan Independence Referendum.
