I normally use clear, organised presentations on topics students are struggling with to introduce and explain key concepts. During the lesson, we will work through questions together, starting with easier examples to ensure understanding and then gradually progressing to more challenging exam-style problems. This helps students develop both their foundational knowledge and their problem-solving skills.
Once we’ve worked through guided examples, I give students practice questions to complete independently so they can apply what they’ve learned. I’m always there to support, clarify misunderstandings.
At the end of each lesson, I include a short quiz to consolidate learning and check understanding. This helps reinforce key ideas and ensures students leave the lesson feeling confident about the topic.
Each lesson is fully tailored to the individual student. I carefully assess their current level and adapt the pace accordingly, slowing down where necessary to ensure complete understanding. My priority is not rushing through content, but building genuine mathematical confidence.
Mathematics is fundamentally about mastering core principles. Once the foundations are secure, more complex topics become significantly easier. I therefore focus heavily on strengthening the basics first, before building up difficulty in a structured, step-by-step way. This method ensures students develop deep understanding, strong problem-solving skills, and long-term retention not just short-term memorisation.
In my GCSE Maths (2023), I achieved 231/240, demonstrating both strong subject knowledge and excellent exam technique. I have a clear understanding of what exam boards require and how to help students maximise marks efficiently.
I began by supporting friends with their studies and quickly developed a reputation for explaining concepts clearly and effectively. I then moved on to tutoring younger students more formally. My students consistently leave lessons feeling more confident, capable, and motivated.
