I have been lecturing and researching in mathematics at university level since 2003, followed by secondary school teaching experience since 2020. I have taught at all university levels, importantly as well as KS3, GCSE and A-level Maths and Further Maths.
I have taught pupils with many ranges of ability and educational needs and have experience in adapting my lessons as such. I am well versed in building learning relationships with my students in order to provide the best possible experience for my tutees. The vast majority of my GCSE pupils have finished with a much higher final grade than their predicted baseline. I truly specialise in A-level maths and further maths: due to my professional background I have a much higher level of expertise than most teachers.
I am adept at designing my lessons to create the best possible framework for each of my students to learn at their current level and to move forward quickly, by both quickly identifying misconceptions as well as areas of difficulty to providing stretch and advancement. I do this through careful but adaptive lesson planning, based upon my discovery of their the individual aims and needs.
From I acted as an admissions tutor at the University of Oxford and so am very experienced in the entrance exam and interview procedures. I was a member of an ASMP workshop which developed preparation material for MAT, STEP and TMUA entrance exams. I have delivered maths enrichment programmes with a fire to training pupils for such tests.
