I have 5 years experience teaching a range of ages and abilities. I use a multitude of methods and tailor the lessons to the students needs. We will learn songs that you love, and sprinkle in a few that develop techniques over time, working from simple chord changes and strumming patterns, to more elaborate pieces, fingerstyle and solo work. During this time you will develop your own voice with the guitar, and your interests will grow to a point where you might want to specialise in a certain technique, style, or genre of guitar playing.

If you have an interest in theory, or learning to read music and/or tablature thats great, we will cover that in time. I also recommend using your ears and practicing what I call 'music appreciation.' This is basically critically listening and analysing guitar playing, or songs that you love, picking out the individual instruments and developing the ability to find notes and chords.

I recommend two hour lessons in the beginning, once a week or fortnight, as it's much easier to make progress in this time and it ensures your fingers and hands can physically develop quickly. Once you're on a good path and able to teach yourself most things, most students then drop down to an hourly weekly lesson, or a couple hours a month, just to ensure you're on the right track, to iron out any bad habits or to cover any techniques that you're struggling with.

I try to make the lessons as fun and efficient as possible to try to inspire you to want to pick up your instrument as it's the hours you spend playing without me where you'll really learn to play.
