Sian Kinnear

I am an experienced international school teacher and Head of Science, currently teaching IB students. Alongside subject teaching, I specialise in helping students become more organised, independent and confident in how they approach their work.

My sessions are practical and built around what is actually happening in the student’s week. We look at upcoming deadlines, assessments and areas of stress, decide what matters most, break larger tasks into manageable steps and work on strategies for planning, revision, organisation, motivation and getting started.

I use lots of modelling rather than simply telling students what they should do. We work through the process together so students can see how to approach a task, build a realistic plan and practise strategies they can then use independently.

This is particularly useful for capable students who feel overwhelmed, procrastinate, struggle to prioritise or find it difficult to turn good intentions into action.

My approach is supportive, practical and realistic. The goal is not to create a perfect timetable, but to help students understand how they learn best and develop strategies they can actually use across all their subjects.
