Having previously been a GCSE student and a tutor to numerous GCSE students, I find the structure of the lesson to work best is:

(1) Explaining the concept - especially applicable for Edexcel Maths, CIE Business Studies

(2) Providing previous examples of successful essays/practise questions - applicable for Edexcel Maths, CIE Business Studies, Edexcel English Language A & Literature

(3) Practising using thematically organised questions specifically chosen to practise different skills and questions
