I like to start my lessons with a starter which will link to the topic itself, such as some word definitions or some descriptions. Then I like to explain what my main objectives for the lesson are and explain the content. After 20 or so minutes I allow the student to get on with the task set whilst I give some advice on how to complete the task thoroughly.
Tasks that I may set include working on paragraph structure, descriptions, analysis and focusing on different types of exam skills in order for the best chance at desired grades. After 10 or so minutes, I then check the work the student has done to ensure they have completed it at the best efficiency that they could possibly aim for, then explain ways on how to improve whilst encouraging them on the work they have already completed.
After checking the completed work, I continue the lesson with some more content, before setting the largest price of work for the session, such as a detailed paragraph or descriptions instead of simple mind tasks to ease into the topic.
Throughout the lesson, the student has all the freedom to ask questions and enquire about certain elements in the lesson, to which I will answer to the best of my capabilities.
I aim to create a trustworthy bond between myself and students in order to ensure that not only are they comfortable in asking questions and providing answers, but also to help them get the best grades possible for their exams.
