I am a native English speaker who has been studying Italian formally since 2008 and Japanese informally since 2006. I have studied abroad in both countries in order to better understand each culture and practice my language skills. My first diploma was a BA in Italian Studies from SUNY Binghamton, studying in Perugia for courses. I have creative lesson plans and want to cater each lesson to each student’s individual needs & the consensus of hobbies. I am very enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge with others and helping more people become multilingual.
My personal favorite ways to teach an intermediate/advanced learner is through film and music because they tend to find it as “less work”, but I also have plenty of ideas relating to sports, physical movement, map orientation, etc to help students of all ages learn a new language. My methods have worked in both Italian and Japanese in the past, and I would like to continue exploring new innovative ways of teaching too!
