My lessons are designed to be supportive, structured, and engaging, giving students the confidence and skills they need to succeed in the 11+. Each session begins with a clear focus - whether that's verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, maths, or English - so that students know exactly what they are working towards. I like to break concepts down into manageable steps, explain them in simple, memorable ways, and then build understanding through practice and discussion.

I believe learning should feel motivating rather than overwhelming, so I keep lessons interactive and varied. I use a mixture of worked samples, exam-style questions, and fun problem-solving challenges to develop both accuracy and speed. I also encourage students to reflect on their work, helping them to see mistakes as opportunities to grow.

Studying at a grammar school myself, I understand the demands of the 11+ and the importance of building both knowledge and exam technique. My experience working with children, including hospital volunteering and mentoring, has taught me the value of patience, encouragement, and adapting to different personalities and learning styles. I know that every child learns differently, so I adjust my teaching methods to bring out the best in each student.

Most importantly, I aim to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and pushing themselves. My goal is not just to prepare children for the 11+, but also to nurture confidence, resilience, and a love of learning that will serve them well beyond the exam.
