While I firmly believe that students always learn best when they are having fun and enjoying themselves, my approach is entirely professional. In our first class, I will assess your needs and learning style. The materials I use next will be based on that, and carefully prepared in advance.

My very many years of experience in this job mean I know what it takes for students to pass exams and improve their English, sometimes extremely quickly. But I also know that every student is different; every learner has different needs. I keep a completely open mind about what will work best and always listen to feedback, which is more than welcome from students and parents alike.

I have the advantage of being a native English speaker. I have a classical UK 'received pronunciation' accent and teach my students how to intone, pronounce and speak correctly. I use interactive Google docs to correct and help advise students with their writing; over the years, this has proven extremely effective.

Ultimately, I only get out of this job what I put into it. The same goes for you too - but I'm sure I'll bring out the best in you and help you reach your full potential in English. If I have one particular quality as a teacher, it's the empathy I have and connection I build with so many students. Nothing is more effective in building their self-belief and helping drive them forwards towards success.

One other thing about me: I love football! It's my lifelong passion! So if you want to talk about that, I promise we'll have plenty to discuss. Likewise, politics, history or international relations: I also teach all of these areas, and have very considerable expertise as a result.
