My lessons are built around turning what you know into marks. We work directly from your exam-board specification, so you know exactly what you need to learn and can stop wasting revision time on things that will not help you in the exam.
Past-paper questions are a big part of my lessons. We go through mark schemes properly so you start to recognise what examiners are looking for and why an answer that sounds correct does not always get the mark. I want you to get to the point where you can look at a question and know how to approach it.
Applied questions are where a lot of Biology students lose marks. The content may be familiar, but the question puts it into a completely unfamiliar experiment or scenario. I teach a method for breaking these questions down, working out which part of the specification is being tested and building an answer around the marking points.
Lessons are interactive rather than me talking at you for an hour. I use questions to find the areas you actually struggle with, and we regularly revisit older topics so they stay in your memory. As you improve, I gradually make you more independent with exam questions so you are not reliant on a tutor when the real exam comes.
I currently tutor three A-Level Biology students privately, and one has progressed from a D in their mock to 87% in recent tests. I also train new mental health coaches professionally, so I have experience teaching difficult material and preparing people for assessments.
The goal is simple: make Biology feel more manageable and make sure your knowledge is actually showing up in your marks.
