I am a third-year Ecological and Environmental Science student at the University of Edinburgh, dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. My academic journey is anchored by a high-achieving International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, where I earned 39 points total and a Grade 7 in Higher Level Biology. This firsthand experience with intensive curricula allows me to provide expert guidance on exam techniques and mark-scheme requirements.
I believe that in science, application is just as important as understanding core concepts. My goal is to ensure students understand the broader consequences of what they are learning so they can apply their knowledge to "unseen" exam questions with confidence. To achieve this, I use a combination of visual aids and active recall. We don't just memorise facts; we explore the "why" behind biological and ecological processes through interactive discussions and low-stakes testing.
My lessons are informed by my active involvement in the field. I currently serve as a volunteer for the East Lothian Countryside Rangers, where I participate in habitat restoration and invasive species removal. Additionally, I have spent over a year as a Wildlife Watch Helper with the Scottish Wildlife Trust, leading outdoor educational activities for younger children. These roles have taught me how to translate complex scientific data into clear, digestible, and engaging explanations.
I offer a supportive and patient learning environment where curiosity is encouraged. Because of my background volunteering with Social Bite and working in busy hospitality roles at Everyman Cinema, I am highly adaptable and empathetic to the different paces and styles of every student.
I specialise in:
Ecology and Environmental Science: Drawing from my current BSc (Hons) studies.
Biology: Focusing on concept mastery and effective exam preparation.
Active Recall Techniques: Helping students retain information long-term.
My approach is designed to build a student's confidence, ensuring they walk into their exams not just prepared, but genuinely interested in the natural world.
