My lessons will be practical practice (unless theory based tutoring is asked for) during lessons I will ask you to perform a piece of music so I can get a rough idea of your capability, from there I will talk with you about what kind of music you like to play and listen to. I find that if a person is familiar with certain songs then they will perform it more confidently and actually enjoy the lesson, I will provide sheet music for the person and would prefer for them to work on it 2 days out the week for an hour in their own time. For beginners I would be focusing on learning chords and keys, this would be how to locate a note and what notes add up to make a certain key. Box chords would be the easiest to teach for beginners and then move up from there. Depending on the persons capabilities I would also be teaching both hands at the same time, if the person is a beginner we would focus on right hand first then gradually move up to using both hands. Each person is different and I will adapt to the pace they need to learn at as I want these tutoring lessons to be not only effective but also fun! I have loved music since I was a child and I find the younger you learn the better. I have been a piano player since I was 10 and I followed it up until high school, I received a B in Nat 5 music including theory and singing.
