My years of experience, understanding of the core components of the British Curriculum, as well as a good subject knowledge equip me to develop practical teaching skills that translate teaching theories into successful classroom practice.
This experience has also afforded me the opportunity to work with children between the ages of 11 and 18 years, understanding the science behind how they learn, why they behave the way they do, and how to manage them so that they can achieve the planned learning outcomes.
When planning my lessons and delivering them, I apply principles of adaptive teaching (e.g, scaffolding); taking into consideration the individual needs and abilities of the pupil. I clearly set out objectives and learning outcomes, help the pupils keep these in focus and help them recognize when they have been achieved.
I prepare dynamic and engaging lessons, with activities and exercises aimed at helping pupils achieve the intended learning outcomes. Lessons usually begin with starters to help pupils recall prior knowledge, then link it to the objectives of the current lesson. This helps them see the connection between different areas of the subject, and with other related subjects. Lessons are chunked, or broken down into reasonable parts to avoid cognitive overload, and set achievable objectives and outcomes.
I know quite well that pupils' wellbeing affect their ability to learn, so I take appropriate personal interest in them.
Hopefully, my warm, friendly and professional approach to teaching makes me the teacher that can meet your needs.
